I approach clients with compassion and value relationship and connection. I provide child therapy and play therapy and have worked with children and families in a therapeutic setting for 10 years. My specialty is infant and early childhood mental health, trauma, anxiety, depression, relational difficulties and life transitions. I have experience working with children and families in foster care, adoption, out of home placement, poverty and severe mental illness. I pull from many theories including:  psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, attachment, development, trauma, and relational based approach. I can also use a faith based approach.

Infant and Early Childhood Therapy

Many people wonder, why would my young child need therapy? Babies and young children experience emotion just as adults do. Young children are especially sensitive to stressors in their environment. Helping parents recognize their baby’s needs will improve their baby’s ability to calm and connect with their parents. I’m trained in Child Parent Psychotherapy, an evidenced based treatment that enhances a parent and child relationship.

Transition to Parenthood

Becoming a parent is one of the most rewarding and challenging events in life. Sometimes it is not as glamorous or rewarding as we expected it. This is normal. I have a special interest in maternal mental health, and in working with parents who are experiencing postpartum issues and enjoy helping them better understand themselves and their children in order to strengthen their relationship.

Children and Teens

I work closely with parents in the therapeutic process with their children, no matter the age. For young children, I use a play based approach, as play is the language of children. I enjoy talking with teenagers and helping them sort through common issues such as depression, anxiety, low self- esteem and image, and self harming behaviors. I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive  Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), an evidenced based treatment that helps children who have experienced trauma.

I am available to provide licensure supervision for LPCC (MN).

I am available to provide Reflective Consultation for individuals or groups.
