As a therapist, I believe a compassionate approach and trusting relationship is essential to achieving growth. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families and am passionate about helping clients reach their goals. One of the greatest privileges in my role is supporting clients along their journey and bearing witness to their individual progress. I have specialized training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, attachment in couples therapy, and family therapy. I am also a LGBT affirmative therapist.
I work with individuals of all ages with special areas of interest including trauma, life transitions, relationship conflict, premarital counseling, and couples contemplating separation or divorce. I have found that a genuine and compassionate therapeutic style can assist clients in finding courage within themselves to navigate all of life’s trials and successes.
Individual Counseling
I work with individuals to assist in the areas of depression, anxiety, grief, stress, relationship concerns, and trauma. Together we create a safe environment to allow space to explore underlying patterns and road blocks and to inspire healing. I utilize the tools of self-compassion, mindfulness, and Accelerated Resolution therapy (ART) to assist clients with these challenges. Additional approaches are integrated into sessions to best meet each client’s individual needs.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy is an evidence-based eye movement therapy used to change the way distressing memories are stored in the brain. This therapy is used to help clients reduce the negative emotions and sensations that occur when these distressing memories come up and ultimately reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, phobias, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Couples Counseling
Using an Emotional Focused Therapy and attachment-based approach, I work with couples who are wanting to resolve conflict, improve communication skills, and develop a deeper sense of trust and commitment within their relationship. I also work with couples who are planning for major life events such as a marriage, raising children together, or contemplating separation.
Relationships can be especially challenging with additional family demands. I work with couples to improve effective co-parenting, resolve past hurts, and explore different techniques that are effective in parenting children with challenging behaviors.
Intensive Sessions
Intensive therapy sessions, sessions longer than a standard therapeutic hour, are available for couples and individuals who are wanting to progress more quickly through therapy or for clients who are faced with a crisis situation. Intensive sessions are not billable to insurance.
