***Krista is temporarily unavailable, please call the office if you have any questions. Thank you!***
As a therapist, I am passionate about helping individuals, children (age 8+), families, and couples to live more satisfying lives.
I believe that every person has what is needed to navigate life’s challenges, but that sometimes there can be life experiences, obstacles, and beliefs that get in the way of the natural healing and problem-solving abilities that each person has.
My role as therapist is to support, encourage, collaborate, guide, reflect, and shine light as you, the expert on your own life, embrace your own natural healing abilities and strengths. Life can feel overwhelming at times, and I welcome the opportunity to help empower you to find your path towards health and wholeness.
I have a special interest in working with issues of depression, anxiety and trauma and how these things can impact the lives of individuals, children, families, and couples. Often times the usual methods of trying to block, resist, or eliminate the symptoms of depression, anxiety, and/or trauma simply lead to greater distress. I focus on exploring, working with, and working through those challenging feelings and experiences with the goal of increasing self-acceptance and a sense of being able to manage and engage in life in a satisfying way no matter what your thoughts and feelings are bringing at any given moment.
Children, Teens, and Families
Sometimes parenting can feel like it’s taking so much out of us that there is no time or energy for anything else. Sometimes the same challenging patterns seem to come up with our kids whether it be around the kids’ emotions and behaviors or relational dynamics at home. Sometimes we see our kids struggling with self-esteem, peer pressure, bullying, and social media issues and are at a loss about how to help them navigate all the pressures of growing up. I feel very strongly about creating a safe space for helping kids to find their voices and to improve self-confidence and relationship skills.
In my work with children and families I often include the whole family in the process of therapy with the goal of improving the quality of family relationships and helping parents to develop ways of parenting that require less stress and energy.
Often times as couples we feel like we are having the same arguments over and over again with no resolution. Sometimes our closest relationships can feel like a roller coaster of intense emotions shifting from positive to negative and back again. In couples counseling, I focus on helping couples to understand themselves, their partners, and the reasons that some patterns seem to be played out over and over again in our closest relationships. I help couples to make room for two stories in their relationship and to understand some of the deeper meanings that each are attributing to each other’s emotions and actions. The goal of this process is for couples to restore and improve trust, respect, and joy in relationship with each other.
I bring warmth, compassion, empathy, collaboration, honesty, and humor to my therapy relationships. I believe that fostering the mind body connection is a key component in helping people to feel a sense of freedom and wholeness in their lives. I am trained in EMDR and AIR which are both trauma-informed therapies that incorporate the latest research about the neurology of intense emotions and trauma and how trauma is stored and processed both in our minds and our bodies. In addition, I utilize Biofeedback, art, movement, and other therapy methods as needed in my therapy work. It takes great courage to share your life experience with someone and I welcome the opportunity to be part of your process.
