Katie Robinson, MA
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-WI, LPCC-MN)
I strongly believe that every person deserves to live a life that is fulfilling and meaningful. Within all of us there is the capacity for awareness, change, and healing. Through compassion, collaboration, and guidance, I assist my clients in their journey so they can lead happier and healthier lives. I take a very holistic approach with my clients incorporating their mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional needs. I often incorporate somatic approaches that help release physical tension from unreleased emotional pain. I specialize in trauma/PTSD (EMDR trained), Autism and other neurodiversity in children/teens, and highly sensitive/empathic children/teens.
Children/Adolescents
Working with children on the Autism Spectrum, highly sensitive, empathic, neurodiverse children, and their siblings is a passion of mine. These children experience and interact with the world in such unique ways. Often times these children experience high levels of trauma due to their sensory sensitivities, difficulties regulating their internal emotional experience, and feeling like this world isn’t meant for them. Art and play therapy can be a beautiful, safe, and non-invasive approach to healing and allowing genuine connection for themselves and their loved ones. I take a warm and intuitive approach with these individuals to create a therapeutic relationship that fosters their ability to feel seen, heard, felt, and understood.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy can be a very personal and profound journey. Everyone deserves to have support throughout their lives in order to work through life’s challenges. I create a safe, non-judgmental space for individuals to express and process maladaptive behaviors, limiting/negative beliefs, trauma, and any other mental health struggles.
Family/Parent Therapy
As a parent of a child on the autism spectrum, I understand the amount of energy it takes to support an individual with neurodiversity. I love helping parents and children find a way to connect, embrace, and thrive within themselves and their family system. I believe each member of the family has an integral role within their unit. Family therapy can create understanding, compassion, and growth needed for optimal health within the family.
I utilize a combination of trauma-focused, EMDR, somatic, mindfulness, art therapy, play-based, experiential, and strength-based therapy within my sessions based on each client’s specialized needs.
I am honored to have the opportunity to work with you and your loved ones.
