Cindy Walsh, MC, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
It is a privilege to reach out and help people as they journey through life. Life can be hard, confusing, and sometimes painful. If you are feeling stuck then counseling may be right for you. The most important aspect of therapy is that you are working with someone you will feel comfortable with. I provide a warm and empathic approach to facilitate the counseling process. My training in counseling psychology and over 30 years of experience, gives me the tools to help you resolve the issues that are troubling you. My specialties include trauma, addictions, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, end of life issues, life transitions, adjustment issues, cultural expectations, and suicide prevention.
Individual Counseling & Coaching
I have a deep commitment to helping you make better sense of the issues that you’re dealing with. Life often throws us curve balls. I believe in working closely with you starting from exactly where you’re at. You may not realize this right now but you have wonderful resilience and an inherent capacity to heal, grow, and to experience joy. I use a variety of approaches to help you do so, from traditional psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral techniques, Attachment Focused EMDR, emotional freedom techniques (tapping), solution focused work, mindfulness strategies, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, and coaching.
Addictions and Relapse Prevention
I have extensive experience working closely with individuals, and in group therapy, dealing with both substance abuse and addictive behaviors such as gambling and internet porn. In the road to recovery, it is essential to have good supports, education, and often intensive therapy. We heal through connection, and a strong therapeutic relationship provides the safe space to do just that. Most individuals struggling with addictions are trying to self medicate and ease their inner pain. I will help you deal with anxiety, depression, and often deep past traumas. Together we will set up a strong relapse prevention plan.
A little about me…
I have worked in Mental Health services in the United States and Canada for over 30 years. My first career focus was working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness; individually, in groups , and through the development of community programs. I then worked with clients and their MD’s on chronic disease management and concurrent anxiety and depression. I have been a frequent guest speaker on mental health and substance use issues. My more recent focus has been working with individuals who are struggling to deal with addictions, various mental health issues, trauma, crisis management, and short term therapy.
