Barb Suick, MS
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist
I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families seeking to build and sustain healthy relationships. I use a strengths-based approach that helps clients gather the resources within to work toward positive change. I have specialized training in the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and EMDR. I am also an LGBT affirmative therapist.
I believe we all need a little help now and then for life’s curve balls and challenges and am passionate about helping others feel empowered to better themselves and their quality of life.
I can assist with a variety of mental health occurrences including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, relationship repair and building, life transitions, abuse, trauma, grief and loss.
Special areas of interest for individuals revolve around separation and divorce, women’s issues, managing or leaving unhealthy relationships, life transitions, aging and codependency.
I have particular interest working with couples that wish to connect on a deeper level, better understand their issues and patterns of conflict, rebuild trust and intimacy, and improve communication habits. I also enjoy addressing what dreams you had at the beginning of the relationship and exploring your new dreams for the future.
I am trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy to help partners achieve greater understanding of each other and gain connection and intimacy in their relationships. Couples counseling can also be adapted to your needs, such as longer sessions, or clustered sessions, offered on a cash basis for couples in crisis, or those wanting to jump start the therapy process.
The Discernment process helps partners when they are unsure of whether they want to continue in the relationship. I assist the couple in making a clear and confident decision about ending the marriage or committing to plan to heal the relationship.
